AGI is general intelligence at roughly human breadth. ASI, artificial superintelligence, is a system that surpasses the best human minds in every domain, including the design of intelligence itself. AGI is the threshold. ASI is what some researchers expect on the other side of it.
Why the gap may be short
A system that can improve its own architecture does not have to cross the gap at human speed. If an AGI can meaningfully contribute to AI research, the loop from general to superhuman could close far faster than the loop from narrow to general, which is the argument behind the idea of an intelligence explosion.
Why the gap may be long
The opposite case is that the last steps are the hardest: reliability, long-horizon planning, and the physical world's refusal to move at software speed. On that view AGI could arrive and then plateau for years, limited by energy, hardware, experiment time and regulation.
Where NeurusAGi sits
NeurusAGi describes its system as an artificial general intelligence agent built on an artificial superintelligence framework, which is a claim about the architecture it is aiming at rather than a claim that ASI already exists.
